The starting point for the Overland Track is a few minutes walk away from these cabins.

There are eight cabins behind Waldheim Chalet, a replica of the home built by pioneer Gustav Weindorfer in 1909. Access is by car or on foot.

The cabins have 4-8 single bunks with mattresses and guests providing their own bedding. Cabins have stoves, cookware, plates, cutlery and electric heaters. Water needs to be treated before drinking. Shared showers and toilets are nearby.

The cabins are located in the heart of the Cradle Mountain day walk zone and offer easily accessible short, half day and full day walks. Options include the Weindorfers Forest Walk, and the popular Dove Lake Circuit. For a greater challenge there is the walk to Marions Lookout or the summit of Cradle Mountain.

Location
The Waldheim Cabins are two hour drive from Launceston (144 km) and 90 minutes from Devonport (83 km).
The cabins are inside the national park and keys are collected from the visitor center.
